Inspired by Japanese and fantasy themes (Hannya), from the Japanese folklore culture it represents a demon that has been cast out from her coven and left alone to die as punishment for her actions. Hannya refers to demons or oni; more specifically to female demons called kijo—even more specifically to those kijo which appear in noh theater.
