One thing I love about salt lakes is that no matter how many times you visit, they always look different. I visited this particular spot a few months prior to shooting this and was met with dry barren landscape and minimal colours or patterns. As luck would have it, I was driving through this area again after a week of rain and was blown away by how different the landscape looked. All the salt lakes were pink and glistening from the evening sun. I flew my drone around and spotted new patterns that I had never seen before. As my drones low battery warning came on, I started to return when I came across this crescent formation in the salt lake. It instantly reminded me of a crescent moon. With my obsession for ‘out of this world’ textures, I knew from the moment I saw it that this would be a very special capture. It was one of those moments I couldn’t plan but I’m very grateful to have stumbled across it.
