Description
The Crescent Nebula is an emission nebula approximately 25 lightyears across, found in the constellation of Cygnus which is around 5000 lightyears from earth. It is formed by the immense stellar winds from a Wolf-Rayet star (WR 136). These winds form a shockwave as they interface with slower moving stellar medium. This image was taken across several nights to achieve around 4hrs total exposure time using a Canon EOS 550D (unmodified) with a Skywatcher 200p-DS 8" Newtonian telescope on an autoguided HEQ5 mount.
