Description

This photograph is part of my project Covers: Retracing Reggae Record Sleeves in London, which documents 50 reggae record covers shot in London between 1967 and 1988. For 3 years I have tracked down the locations of these record covers and re-photographed them in their original setting, decades later. Presented in this way, the images document the passing of time, and provide a fascinating insight into the history of reggae music in the UK, a largely overlooked but immensely important part of Britain’s popular culture and musical identity. This photograph of Jah Woosh’s Religious Dread album was taken at the Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, Kensal Green, London W10 This series has been widely published online and the photographs have been exhibited around the world.
