Yeimy, a 11 years old from El Salvador, colored this photo. She drew a sun with teas, a sad sun. She told me that it's because the sun doesn't want to shine for them. Yeimy, her little sister and her mother migrated from El Salvador. Her mother had death threats and they had to leave their home. The 3 of them traveled thousands of kilometers, walking, hitchhiking, on the roof of the train and by bus. Her mother wanted to cross with them to the United States and go with family members that they already have there but they got stranded in the border. Dreams on Hold is a collaborative work with people living in a migrant camp in the city of Matamoros. I would walk around the camp and take photos in black and white and I would give them printed photos for them to intervene however they wanted. The result was a series of photos with drawings, colors and text that expressed their deepest feelings. 50% of the sales of this photo will be for Yeimy´s family
