Perla, a 7 years old girl from Nicaragua, colored her mother's hands. She drew hearths around her hands because "she touches me with love", she said. She, her mother and her little sister migrated from Nicaragua fearing for their lives. At the time of the photo, they were all waiting to cross to the U.S. in a makeshift camp made of plastic bags in the U.S.-Mexico border. Dreams on Hold is a collaborative work with people living in a migrant camp in the city of Matamoros. I would walk around the camp and take photos in black and white and I would give them printed photos for them to intervene however they wanted. The result was a series of photos with drawings, colors and text that expressed their deepest feelings. A percentage of the sales will be donated to organizations that help migrants
