A winter's day in Newport Beach, where the wind was whipping and I could feel the chill to my bones. Since I live in Colorado, this is an unusual experience when visiting home. The cold kept most people off the beach. There were a few couples that passed by, along with a jogger every once in a while, but I mostly had the place to myself. I sat on a rock with my tripod set in the sand and photographed the waves around this rock for quite some time. Shortly before sunset, a fairly thick fog blew in. It settled on the horizon and as the sun sat, turned a lovely soft pinkish color. The evening felt like sitting in a painting and I tried to develop this shot with a bit more of that feel to it. If you look closely, you can see the muscles growing all over this rock as it was washed over again and again by the harshness of the cold water on a very stunning, but cold winter's day.
