"Emergence - the process of coming into being." 6 years ago at age 19, I took my first trip to the Canadian Rockies after first moving to Canada from Australia. I had collected and printed magazine photos of this place since I was a kid- slowly and gradually working toward the decision that I would move there one day as an adult. I dreamt of rugged environments, jagged peaks and living beyond a comfort zone. A month ago it felt like things came full circle, and I made the long drive from British Columbia to Alberta to set up a home in the Rockies. The place I'd visited for inspiration multiple times over the last 6 years was now my home, and the kind of backyard I could only dream of. This piece was one of my first images shot once I'd arrived, and has quickly become a representation of the new chapter I'd entered- and the beginning of a new adventure. I found home.
