In 2021, Kuwait banned rainbows. I kid you not, anything rainbow became instantly illegal. Shops selling rainbow toys were closed down, because "The Rainbow" (oooooh) represents the gay community. That's how homophobic my society is. In this artwork, I superimpose a previous painting (the original was auctioned and sold at Christie's auction house) called Blind New World (yes, the title taken and twisted from Brave New World for the obvious analogy), and use it to portray the absolute senselessness of banning anything at all in fact, when the child is clearly on her ipad with a VPN bypassing all censorship and watching whatever she wants, so the hypocritical mother covering her child's eyes makes no sense, just like - on a macrocosmic scale - the government cannot actually shut people's eyes when the internet, VPNs. Netflix, etc is available openly to anyone.
