Description
The goddess Ishtar falls in love with the “Tammuz” (God of plants), but he is tragically killed and taken to the land of the dead. Ishtar walked in to the realm of the dead to save her lover from her jealous sister, Ereshkigal. In the land of the dead, Ishtar has no power, and as soon as she arrives, her sister imprisons her. All the arts and ways of love and fertility were destroyed immediately when Ishtar was gone from the land. The earth was ravaged by drought and disease.
