The Gymea lily to flourish must undergo extreme and adverse conditions like wildfires. Rare, singular, and resolute a visual metaphor for resilience and love. This Gymea lily has an added layer, for all its gnarly misgivings it has an inner luminescence. It was a gift from my beloved, an encouragement to me, to live my best self. Ordered from a grower, six hours away, during lockdown in Sydney. The first set of flowers spent 6 weeks in a courier van, delivered putrid but with a glint of red. The grower sent another two, ten days later, sitting in a postal depot, enduring a snap heatwave, this arrived & flourished. Symbolic personally, but also represents the journey sometimes travelled, not perfect, oscillating frequencies but resilient, resolute, kind, loyal & unconditionally loving.
