Candid portrait of a woman in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic in Jackson Heights, New York City. I went out in early June 2020 to document if people were wearing masks in my neighborhood, the epicenter of the pandemic when thousands were getting infected, a time when a dark cloud of fear was palpable everywhere you went in New York. I waited for her to make eye contact because I wanted you, dear viewer, thousands of years from now, to feel her gaze during this challenging time in our city's history. I also wanted to portray the flowers under that late afternoon light because their vibrancy of color offered me hope. This work, and all works in the series are offered as 1/1 NFT.
