Chief's Log: My home has been the sea for more years than my sons have breathed air. I have been enriched by her sun, flavored by her salt, and rocked by her swells. Once a man has committed himself to the sea, no manner of land-based entertainment can sustain him. No goal is beyond his grasp. Having tamed the mighty roar of a bucking white-cap, what challenge is left to be found? I can never see the Earth in the same light. Once the sun of an endless horizon has both risen and set upon you, very little remains to illuminate your path. Every facet of my life has endured the storm, enjoyed the calm, and risen or dropped upon the turning of the lunar tides. Nothing will ever be the same again. My view is forever tilted. My course is forever altered. My heart...forever cast away, embraced by the love of the sea.
