It was overcast and drizzling, and sakura petals were falling with the rain. Sitting there without the usual hustle and bustle of the crowd felt like a gift, this moment of pure calm and peace washing over me. The pandemic has made it difficult to hold on to peace. Whether it’s the daily news or death of loved ones or dealing with people outside who have also had too much to handle these last 3 years, there is always something that inevitably unmoors us. I am slowly remembering what it’s like to be still, slowly remembering what it’s like to have hope. Memories of spring remind me of this — It doesn’t matter how long or how harsh the winter; Spring always comes. Keep breathing. Things long forgotten can be learned again.
