October, 2018. A self portrait taken at my favourite local lake on the calmest morning I've ever witnessed. The water was so still, this scene almost felt unreal... Leaving me feeling as if I were floating in a dream. Well, except for the freezing water to remind me just how real this scene actually was! I waded out through chest-deep water to this rock, holding my dress above my head to keep it dry, and then climbed up and waited a few minutes for the water ripples to dissipate while my camera time-lapsed the whole scene from the shore. Sitting there was perhaps one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had; all my surroundings perfectly mirrored in reflection. I couldn't help but soon forget how cold I was as I tuned into the stillness... allowing my heartbeat to slow until I felt at one with the pace of nature's own slow beat... and then all I could feel was serenity.
