FOODPORN foodporn?/i [ˈfuːtˌpɔʁn], German "Essenspornographie" or foodporn, is a neologism. It refers to images of food, often glamorously and spectacularly staged, and the trend to share them on the internet. The depiction of food and foodstuffs in foodporn images aims to trigger feelings and emphasises appearance above all other qualities. They foreground the sensory pleasures of food, in contrast to other representations of food and food in the media that focus on health and fitness. Also popularly used as a method of fuelling social envy.
