I made this image while living in Breckenridge, Colorado. Skiing is an important part of the culture in that little mountain town, and this photo really brings back the feeling I get while tree skiing. Breckenridge is a special place for me, because it's where my love for photography started. I took an intro to photography class at the local college, and one year later I joined the photography program. The technique that I used to make this photo gives it a lot of texture, and it has a three dimensional/painterly quality to it. Below I will explain the technique that I used to make this image. The technique: Halfway through a 20-30 second long exposure, I cover the lens with the lens cap. While the lens cap is on, and the exposure is still ongoing, I quickly reposition the camera for the next composition, and remove the lens cap for the remainder of the exposure. This essentially creates a double exposure effect, but it is technically a single exposure.
