Description

Every year since 1998 I've tried to render something festive for the holidays. Sometimes it's something totally new, sometimes I adapt an existing scene. In 2015 I had put a lot of work into updating my "Pyre" scene from 2000. I recreated it using all the skills I had learned over the intervening years. It turned into my most ambitious 3D project to date, requiring particle animation, volumetrics and countless hours of test rendering. As the holidays approached I had the idea to alter the particle paths and colors to form, IMHO, one of the more unique Christmas images ever. If I could only choose one Christmas render from my entire collection it would be this one.
