Every year since 1998 I've tried to render something festive for the holidays. Sometimes it's something totally new, sometimes I adapt an existing scene. This was my first attempt at a full 3D Christmas scene using Bryce3D. I created it on a PC with 8MB of RAM so some creative shortcuts were taken to simulate the forest. The trees are actually simulated using a terrain. Santa is a 2D plane with some light added for Rudolph's nose. I've attempted to recreate this scene a few times in the years since. With each iteration the landscape scenery gets more realistic but Santa's sleigh gets a bit smaller to fit the scale of the scene. I think this version, rough-hewn as it may be, is the purest of them all.
