One of the largest primates on earth, orangutans are complicated and intelligent species. Adult males live mostly solitary lives, only seeking social interaction to mate. The Bornean orangutan population declined by 60% in the past 60 years and is projected to decline by 82% over 75 years. The main cause of this decline is habitat loss from the palm oil industry.
