He picked an Aster from a blooming cluster tangled among the magenta Indian paint brush. It was dainty, he thought, small and elegant – bijou. He chuckled to himself. It was an apt word, but also happened to be the name of the film that crystalized his sexuality. An arthouse feature that felt like a fever dream. It was funny to think of what that film unlocked for him. Years and years of feasting upon carnal pleasures. But now he sought something different. Instead of the dizzying ups and downs tied to yearning for flesh, he simply sought contentment. He sought peace. Here amongst the wild flowers in the fields. Here among the small and elegant. Bijou is a photo from Chase Baxter’s series, Spring Porn. The collection captures florals in an effort to explore the feeling of pleasure, as well as some of the often-accompanying emotions such as joy, euphoria, nostalgia, and even sometimes shame.
