Description

STAR III is an Algerian trawler commissioned in 2007. During its passage in front of the Sidi Mansour point in Hammem ElGhzez (Tunisia) heading south, in October 2013, the boat had sunk into the sand surrounded by large rocks and the wreckage of another boat from the 2nd World War. As the accident was during religious holidays the crew had returned to Algeria, the boat's equipment was broken into. The maritime authorities, despite several attempts, failed to pull it out of the sand with a tugboat from Bizerte and on the other hand the army divers pumped the fuel elsewhere to avoid the risk of polluting the beautiful Hammem El Ghzez beach.
