The TARPON SENTINEL is a Greek freighter measuring 185x27.7x16 meters built in 1968 by the Ishikawajima Heavy Industries shipyards in Japan, initially named Eredine. On April 3, 1983, it suffered a power outage and ran aground in the Cani island (Tunisia) while transporting flour from Pensacola (Florida) to Port Said (Egypt). May 18, 1983 refloated and brought back to Bizerte (Tunisia). On October 19, 1983 when it dropped its ink, probably too damaged to be repaired, it never left Tunisia..
