A glacial river system transitions into a deep lake carved eons ago by the same glacier that is melting upstream. Glacial flour in the water gives the river its mesmerizing blue color. The resulting effect is a landscape that looks more like abstract art than anything else. This photo has become a visual meditation for me. I read the image from right to left, seeing 3 stages of being: separation, transition, & unity. It is a picture of our world & the hope I have for the days ahead. We all find ourselves in our own streams, be them cultural, religious, political, relational, or philosophical. Our diversity & individual identities are something to be celebrated. But an over-emphasis on this can lead to disconnection. To be human is to long for connection... to transition into communal wholeness.
