There is an intimate solace I feel when photographing in the middle of the night. Especially when no one is around. Just me and the planet, connecting and sharing a breath together. On this night, I did end up sharing the Tybee Beach Pier with a few folks at the far end who were night fishing. But they eventually gave up after a gang of small sharks kept stealing their bait. I was the only one with a lucky catch that night as I captured a fisherman spotting with a flood light. For this image, I was able to do some light painting along the length of the boardwalk leading to the fishing deck and I liked how it enhanced the contrast between the orange-brown wood of the pier against the deep, dark blue of the star-filled sky.
