Double Portrait #2 from the series 'How Forests Think' Chromogenic photogram (cameraless photograph) 40x32 inches 2015 1/1 NFT 3800 X 3000 pixels This series of large analog photograms was made on the volcanic slopes of Hawaii where I spent my early childhood living “off-the-grid”. I use this remote landscape as my darkroom to expose the shadows of giant leaves onto color photographic paper, illuminating their imperfections and patterns. I see these human-sized figures as “Portraits” of the beings that inhabit this animate landscape. They speak to the personification of nature and to the volatility and power it can have in our lives.
