The full name of this iconic capsule tower is "中銀カプセルタワービル" Nakagin Capsule Tower Building. Designed by the architect Kisho Kurokawa and built in 1972, it was a mixed-use residential and office building. It was one of the few remaining edifices of the Japanese architectural movement called "Metabolism" that combined elements of architectural megastructures with the idea of organic biological growth. On April 12th, 2022, the final disassembling work has begun, with component units repurposed. Dozens of capsules were sold to collectors and museums, however, the main structure will be lost forever.
