Childhood friends are never forgotten. They are truly like brothers. They always share joys and sorrows. I took this photograph in the Harran region of Sanlıurfa, one of the most historically rich places in Mesopotamia. The children, playing in the dust and dirt as the sun went down, were happy despite all the poverty. They were singing and holding hands. I was very happy to photograph the happiness on their faces. These children grow up in these lands under very difficult conditions. Despite all the impossibilities, their happiness is truly respectable. The fact that some people are unhappy despite having all kinds of opportunities, this photo proves how contradictory life is.
